Many of us misattribute divine qualities of the our mighty God to Satan. God and Satan are not equal opposite forces warring over souls in an ongoing conquest. The God of the Bible allows Satan to rebel and do his destruction but Satan cannot touch what God does not want him to touch (Job, Revelation 9).
Satan has a vicious bite and gnarly bark but he's kept on a short leash. He does not have the attributes of God. God is all-knowing, God is all-present (he's everywhere), God is all-powerful and Satan is none of these things. Check out this message on what power God gives to us in the fight against the forces of darkness and check out this sermon to see if you have your theology right when it comes to God's powerful nature. If you've ever rejected Jesus, you're the anti-Christ. There is no "thee" anti-Christ. This is a common Christian misconception where people put the term anti-Christ (which only occurs in 1 and 2 John, not Revelation or anywhere else) and throw it in a blender with the man of lawlessness (2 Thessalonians 2) and the Beast of Revelation to make an Anti-Christ protein shake.
Review the scriptures for yourself. 1 John 2:18 "Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour." John identifies anti-Christ as plural. It's not just one singular big bad boogey man. They're coming, they've already come. He mentions one by name; Diotrephes (3 John 5:9 ESV) and one by code Nero (Revelation 13:8 ESV) 1 John 2:22 "Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son." John tells us who the anti-Christ is...it's anyone who denies the Father and the son. I.E the incarnation, the sinless Jesus, the shedding of his perfect blood, and his conquering of death and the grave. If you deny this, you're an anti-Christ. 1 John 4:3 "And every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already." Yeah, pretty clear here. The antichrist is here, has been here for thousands of years, and is a spirit. Not some future political boogey man. It's any spirit that claims Jesus is not from God. 2 John 7 "For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist." John adds, that if you deny the return of the King of kings in the flesh, you're an anti-Christ. A good way for people to stop reflecting on their own personal rejections of Christ is to get focused on a way worse future bad guy, who's like really evil and definitely not me. 2 Samuel 12:7 (ESV) "Nathan said to David, ‘You are the man!" If you've rejected Christ, you've been an anti-Christ. Thank you Jesus who died for his anti-Christ enemies like me. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8 ESV) |
